Mr. Roberts possesses more than 30 years of clinical, administrative, and program design and implementation experience in adult and adolescent mental health and substance use residential/outpatient settings in the public and private sectors, including MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, Naltrexone/Vivitrol). Mr. Roberts previously served as a trainer for the NIDA/SAMHSA Blending Initiative on Buprenorphine Treatment for Multidisciplinary Addiction Professionals. He designed, implemented, and completed activities to secure state licensure and provided counseling and case management services for a startup office-based buprenorphine practice in conjunction with an addiction medicine specialist and nursing staff. He also performed care coordination for individuals on methadone for a large managed care contract and served as a liaison for primary care physicians referring SUD and chronic pain patients to MAT for a staff model HMO.

“One of the things that has been really helpful in the substance use disorder field in the past couple of decades is really recognizing the choices of individuals who are coming into treatment and how important they are to them succeeding. They want to believe in what works for them. They want some say in what works for them. And the more options we have to give them, the better off I think we're going to be moving forward.” — John Roberts
