Dr. Perpich has extensive experience in programmatic and technical services that promote collaborative research and training programs in biomedical and behavioral sciences with special focus on substance use and mental health. This experience — involving his expertise in medicine, psychiatry, and law — includes work for SAMHSA developing products and providing training and technical assistance services related to the prevention of prescription drug abuse and overdose and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for prescription drug and opioid addiction. In addition, his work has included developing and managing a NIDA international online program network for fellows in substance use treatment and working groups for international research and training initiatives. He also ran an NIMH collaborative suicide studies network for researchers in suicide prevention and a mentoring network to enhance the diversity of early career academic professionals.
