Carlos Alcaraz, MPA is a Technical Expert Lead for JBS International, Inc. and has 15 years of experience in the adolescent and young adult addictions treatment and recovery field. Throughout his career, he has worked to increase access to effective substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring disorders (COD) treatment services for at-risk, minority youth and their families. In his previous role as clinical director for a community-based adolescent outpatient clinic, Mr. Alcaraz increased youth access to evidence-based early intervention and treatment services by implementing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment for Adolescents (SBIRT-A) in community and school-based settings. In addition to his direct implementation work related to SBIRT and evidence-based treatment for adolescents, Mr. Alcaraz has served other communities by providing training and technical assistance in the implementation of effective screening, early intervention, and treatment models and supporting workforce development efforts to improve SUD treatment delivery systems around the U.S. and its Territories. He has earned multiple certifications in evidence-based SUD and COD treatment models and is an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner. Mr. Alcaraz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration degree, both from the University of Arizona.

We need to address the current needs of these young peopleâ€¦a child who was born to a mother with an opioid use disorder will have very different needs at birth than they do when they are 15 or 16.”
