Data from the National Agriculture Workers Survey (NAWS), a federal survey JBS conducts of more than 65,000 migrant and seasonal farmworkers, are being used by journalists and policy experts as part of the conversation about the role and needs of farmworkers during the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, in recent weeks as the pandemic swept the country, NAWS data were used to inform vulnerabilities in the food supply chain, the impact on farmers of “small business” definitions, protection for essential workers, and more.

As we join together in our response to fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), many of us are concerned about not knowing what the future holds, including children and adolescents. While the primary focus is—and needs to be—on the physical health of our nation, we must also focus on the mental health and well-being of the millions of children and youth currently living in a disrupted and unstable reality. Fortunately, telemental health services have been on the rise and provide a much-needed resource for families during this time of crisis.

Regardless of the setting, of special concern are justice-involved individuals with chronic diseases, such as SUDs and mental disorders.
