Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.

· Respond to and, where necessary, resolve a variety of issues related to server environment and application deployment  

· Support client requests related to access, authentication and supported services  

· Create and implement backup schedule and process   

· Manage server updates  

· Assist in application deployment, migration, and security updates to ensure minimal down time for applications, including ensuring support outside of normal working hours when needed  

· Maintains monitoring systems and responds to alerts  

· Create server operations and maintenance documentation  

· Stay current on new technologies and participate in the identification and selection of best fit open source and off-the-shelf software solutions   

· Keep apprised of technical and business developments affecting areas of activities and client/customer interests. Investigate new issues and makes recommendations to senior management  

· Create and maintain system workflows.  


Education: BS degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required.  

Language: English fluency (oral and written)  

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of hands-on operations, System Administration configuration and maintenance. Implementation of software and hardware management and reporting tools. Server and workstation backup and recover.   

Knowledge: Familiarity network operations technologies ‚ÄďTCP/IP networks, Linux and Unix administration, Windows Servers and AWS Cloud Virtualization. Working knowledge of Web Servers. Apprised of current security standards and tools for vulnerability assessment.¬†¬†¬†

Skills: Ability to work productively in a small team. Demonstrated ability to respond in a timely and professional manner to client and team requests. Ability to apply and use advanced technical knowledge in customer focused, quality-oriented environment.  

Clearance: Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.   


Education: CompTIA Security+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification. AWS Solutions Architect certification  

Experience: Windows systems administration experience. Experience implementing security best practices and hardening. Working with and creating software configuration database libraries and documentation.   

Knowledge: Strong background and familiarity with legacy and new network operations technologies ‚ÄďTCP/IP networks, Linux and Unix administration, Windows Server administration and AWS Cloud Virtualization. FIPS, NIST, HIPAA and other government standards for security and privacy.¬†¬†

Skills: Hands-on with workstation and server deployment, management, backup and recovery, system performance tuning, and monitoring.   

Software Proficiency: Office, Visio, Jira, Version Control Servers, Database Servers, Web Servers
