As a Software Developer (.NET Developer)-mid-level, you will join an Agile program responsible for the development, maintenance, security, and operational support of existing .NET applications. You are a cross-functional developer with a passion for high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code. You will participate in all phases of the development cycle: concept, technical design, development, testing, and release. You are agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we are doing wrong so we can fix it, and what we are doing right so we can improve on it. This position will support the agency’s Information Technology mission to provide development and operational support of new and existing legacy mission-enabling applications. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, modify, or configure moderately complex software applications from detailed specifications
  • Participate in all phases of the development cycle: concept, technical design, development, testing, and release
  • Write clean, testable code on .NET platform utilizing C#, SQL, HTML, JS and CSS programming languages
  • Test and debug .NET applications based on business requirements and industry best practices
  • Review and refactor code
  • Work independently on most phases of applications development activities
  • Follow the team‚Äôs established Agile processes, which include both short- and long-term planning, cross functional support, and demonstrating working software
  • Support the agency‚Äôs Information Technology mission to¬†provide development and operational support of new and¬†existing legacy¬†mission-enabling applications¬†

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline

Experience:  3 years of experience in the IT field developing and customizing .NET applications based on customer requirements

Software Proficiency:  

  • Solid understanding of .NET security (Authentication/Authorization)¬†
  • Experience with software tools like AzureDevOPs, JIRA, Bitbucket, and Git¬†
  • Strong knowledge of¬†.NET platform utilizing C#, SQL, HTML, JS and CSS programming languages

Soft Skills: Strong writing and communication skills. Ability to make recommendations and challenge current processes with a professional and diplomatic approach. Ability to connect technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences 

Skills: 

  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles and architectures
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile environment
  • Ability to connect technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences¬†
  • Able to clearly communicate and provide positive recommendation of improvements to existing software applications¬†

Location:  Rockville, MD / Remote now until client approves return to the office (TBD)

Clearance:  Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance

Language: English fluency (oral and written)

 

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

Experience: Experience supporting Health and Human Service agencies. Experience with Appian, ServiceNow, or similar Low-Code Applications, designing and implementing automated build and deployment pipelines and supporting platform including technologies such as, Jenkins.
