Research Assistant II (Interviewer)

JBS International, Inc. is looking for part-time (60-75%) Research Assistants/Interviewers to join the team. This position has overall responsibility for carrying out the activities required under assigned JBS International, Inc. contracts. The main focus of this position is the support of field and data collection activities for the National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS) Contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Travel to sites and interview farmworkers.Â
Travel as part of a team to interview farmworkers for the National Agricultural Workers Survey. The interviewing process consists of four parts.
- Contacting growers and obtaining permission to select workers for the survey.
- Sampling workers and scheduling them for interviews.
- Conducting interviewsÂ
- Updating sampling lists, contacting knowledgeable individuals, piloting changes to the survey or survey procedures.
All of these tasks are done following procedures specifically developed for this project and in which the candidate will be trained. Further description appears below.Â
Research Assistants will contact agricultural employers following established sampling procedures. Typically, employers are given a description of the NAWS study and are asked to participate by giving access to his\her employees. Employer contact outcome is documented on sampling lists.
Once access to workers is received, Research Assistants give an overview of the study to the farm workers. At this time workers are asked to volunteer to participate in the study. Research Assistants must follow sampling procedures when selecting survey participants. Research Assistants schedule appointments with farm workers at the convenience of the worker and grower. Farmworker contact outcome are documented on sampling lists.
Interview farm workers
Surveys are conducted by the Research Assistants at locations convenient to the farm worker. Surveys generally take around 30- 45 minutes to conduct. Farm workers receive an honorarium for their participation. Research Assistants send completed surveys to main office.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Language: English and Spanish fluency required.Â
Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor of Arts degree preferred.Â
Experience: Some office experience a plus. In addition, familiarity with farm workers or other low-wage immigrant groups a plus.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office ApplicationsÂ
Other: Must be able to travel at least 50%. Must have valid driverâ€™s license.
