Research Assistant I

JBS International is seeking a Research Assistant to work closely with our Virginia Needs Assessment (VANA) team. The Research Assistant will support the efforts to assess the need of Virginians for publicly funded behavioral health services and assess the current capacity of the State of Virginia’s behavioral health system.

The purpose of this position is to help meet the goals and objectives of the Virginia Needs Assessment while providing the Research Assistant with valuable knowledge and experience to assist in their educational and career aspirations. 

• Support quantitative and qualitative data collection and data analysis activities 
• Assist in the planning and participation of site visits and key informant interviews
• Utilize e-tools and technologies to set up webinars, conference calls, emails, etc. 
• Develop and disseminate needs assessment materials
• Learn and support grant preparation (e.g. writing, researching) and business development
• Travel to different sites in Virginia to support qualitative data collection (key informant interviews and focus groups)

Education: Junior or Senior college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work or Psychology.

Language: English fluency (oral and written).

Knowledge: Basic knowledge of public health, behavioral health or research. Must have valid driver’s license. 

Skills: High level of attention to detail. Work independently and as part of a team, requires minimal supervision. Possess strong organizational and communication skills. Creatively problem solve to address priority issues.

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office 

Location: North Bethesda, MD with travel throughout the state of Virginia.

Please note: This is a temporary 40 hour per week position.

Education: Graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in Public Health, Social Work or Psychology.

Software Proficiency: SPSS
