508 Compliance Specialist

North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm seeks a highly skilled 508 compliance editor for a 4-5-year federal project. The successful applicant will be motivated and interested in supporting a large clearinghouse website and additional micro sites in a fast-paced environment. The 508 compliance editor will conduct functional testing; complete 508 compliance testing, and fix documents needing to be made accessible. This individual will also provide formatting in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro and production of documents, charts, graphics, and tables; and apply project requirements and styles. Work will involve creating, tagging, and verifying 508-compliant Microsoft Word and PDF documents.
***This position is Part-Time being at least 20 hrs per week.May require additonal hours when needed.***
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to remediate documents for 508 compliance
- Ability to format in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro; Proficiency in CommonLook PDF Validator preferred
- Will conduct functional testing; complete 508 compliance testing, and fix documents needing to be made accessible.
- Provide formatting in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro and production of documents, charts, graphics, and tables; and apply project requirements and styles.
- Creating, tagging, and verifying 508-compliant Microsoft Word and PDF documents
- Ability to use Drupal to update web pages
- Ability to load reports and conduct quality control
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:¬†Bachelor‚Äôs Degree in relevant field
Language:¬†English fluency (oral and written)
Experience: 2 years of experience in 508 remediation. Will consider equivalent experience for the right candidate.
Knowledge: Must have strong understanding of the latest 508 requirements and accessibility practices and principles. Proven ability to work as part of a team, understand problems from another team member‚Äôs perspective.
Skills: Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively with client and JBS team. Independence, willingness to learn and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated.
Software¬†Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, JAWS (or other Web accessibility software), ability to use Drupal to update existing websites.
Location: North Bethesda (Option for telework)
