Title: Web Designer

North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm seeks experienced Web Designer.

This designer will:

  • Conceptualize and create intuitive, engaging, and brand-consistent desktop and mobile experiences for public-facing Web sites, closed social networks, eCommerce platforms, and GUIs for Web-based applications.
  • Participate and collaborate in concept development and design ideation with business managers and the design and front-end development team.
  • Strategize and develop information architecture (IA).
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and comps for any given stage of design process.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Online portfolio of proven, client-facing work is required.
  • Demonstrable UI/UX design experience for CMS-driven sites, social networks, and eCommerce sites strongly preferred.
  • Strong visual- and user-focused design skills and an eye for detail.
  • Solid understanding of mobile and desktop Web usability best practices.
  • Ability to move quickly and independently and juggle multiple projects.
  • Good time management skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, comfortable following direction, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines.
  • Rock solid skills in graphic design, with an eye for typography, palette development, intuitive layout, and a pixel-level attention to detail.
  • Good-natured, flexible, leave-your-ego-at-the-door approach to Web design.
  • Experience with cross-platform interoperability and progressive enhancement.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript capabilities (i.e., what can be done with AJAX, jQuery).
  • Ability to design to CSS grid frameworks (i.e. 960 or Fluid).
  • Experience designing for content management systems, especially Drupal.
  • Experience designing data visualizations and infographics.
  • Skills in major graphic software programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver.
  • 4-year degree in design; advanced degree a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional Web design experience as a member of a team participating in the complete lifecycle of several successfully delivered sites.
