Title: Copy Editor
Description:
North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm seeks Copy Editor to join an established publication contract with the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. The Copy Editor will work in a collaborative environment with writers, clients, and graphics staff to develop products for print, online learning, and the Web. Products are of varying sizes and complexity on substance abuse treatment.
 
Minimum Requirements:
The Copy Editor will be responsible for meticulous fact checking, grammar, accuracy and style. Copyedit and format documents according to approved Government Printing Office (GPO) style guidelines, correcting errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling and assuring clarity and correct use of language. Track papers through the editorial process and interact with writers and appropriate staff to ensure accurate and timely processing and that production schedules are met. Correct proofs of copyedited documents by transferring writer and proofreader corrections, which includes determining which changes should be made according to GPO style. Complete assigned special editorial services projects in a timely and thorough fashion so that the end result meets the stated objectives for the project. Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of 8–10 years of copyediting experience, preferably in a scientific or medical field. Federal contract experience and knowledge of substance abuse treatment preferred.
