Aguirre Division
In 2005, JBS acquired Aguirre International and the Aguirre Group, LLC. Founded by Dr. Edward Aguirre, Commissioner of Education under President Ford, the Aguirre companies allowed us to provide our clients with an even broader range of expertise and experience and added new agencies to the JBS client base. New clients included the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Education, and the Corporation for National and Community Service. The acquisition also added offices in Burlingame, CA, the site of Aguirre’s original corporate headquarters, and in Washington, DC.
Both JBS and Aguirre Division clients have benefited from the skills and talents the acquisition brought to the firm. At the time of the acqusition, co-CEOs Gail Bassin and Jerri Shaw noted: “Our business lines are complementary, and our focus on helping clients achieve their strategic mission is the same. Together, we offer our respective clients a broader array of expertise, skills, and experience than we provided as separate entities.” For example, cross-country, multidisciplinary employee teams collaborate on projects for clients, notably in the e-learning field and on research and evaluation projects. The addition of Aguirre staff also allowed JBS to establish the Center of Excellence in Language, Culture, and Diversity in 2007.
