Boldly Growing Together – In Recovery Month and Beyond

This Recovery Month, we see the wisdom of an old Klingon proverb: Only a fool fights in a burning house. For too long, the field debated whose pathway was ‘right’ while stigma and loss raged around us. Today, those divisions are giving way to a more collaborative approach, where public health, treatment, recovery supports, and communities are aligning around compassionate care, integrated systems, and respect for personal autonomy inherent to the many pathways of recovery. This shift is not only pragmatic – it is profoundly hopeful, reflecting how far we’ve come and how much stronger we are when we move forward together.
At JBS International, we do not claim to drive this momentum alone; we walk with it. Guided by our mission of creating sustainable change that improves lives, our role has been to reflect the progress already underway, convene conversations that surface community wisdom, and help ideas take root where they are most needed. By listening deeply, applying innovation, and aligning our integrity and teamwork with the energy of the recovery movement, we contribute to the forward motion of a positive change greater than any one organization.

We show up for this shared work with strengths that are both relevant and authentic: subject matter experts who carry lived expertise, who have invested deeply in education, and who bring wide professional experience across systems and communities. This combination allows us to bridge perspectives, translate complex ideas into practice, and elevate solutions that honor recovery as both a personal journey and a public good. In every space – from statewide peer recovery conferences to community listening sessions – our commitment is to walk alongside partners with integrity, humility, and purpose.
As we honor Recovery Month, we are reminded that hope is not an abstraction – it is visible in every pathway and present in every community. Now, as the modern recovery movement approaches its 25th year since the watershed 2001 Recovery Summit in St. Paul, we see proof that when compassion, collaboration, and respect guide our course, a future once thought improbable is not only possible, but within reach. This Recovery Month, we celebrate how far we’ve come – and the galaxy of possibility that still lies ahead. Together, we are prepared to boldly go… and boldly grow.
